Contraiindication:  Hypersensitivity to the drug or any components of it

 Special Precaution:

  •  Kidney disease 
  •  Diabetes
Interaction: Increased nephrotoxicity may result if tacrolimus is given with other potentially nephrotoxic drugs like cyclosporin. Avoid concomitant use of potassium-sparing diuretics. Concomitant use of drugs which inhibit the cytochrome P450 (CYP3A) potentiate the effects of tacrolimus.

Servings: Oral- Kidney transplantation- 0.2mg/kg/day in adults as two divided doses. Liver transplantation- 0.10-0.15mg/kg/day in two divided doses. Maintenance dosage should be individualized so as to maintain whole blood concentration between 5-20 ng/ml. Children- Generally need doses 1.5 to 2 times greater than those in adults.
