Contraiindication: 

  • Hypersensitivity to Oxyphenonium and other anticholinergic drugs 
  • Narrow angle glaucoma 
  • Obstructive gastro intestinal tract 
  • Obstructive uropathy
  • Paralytic ileus 
  • Myasthenia gravis

Special Precaution: 

  • Heart failure
  • Hypertension
  • Hyperthyroidism 
  • Pyloric stenosis 
  • Prostatic hypertrophy 
  • Chronic lung disease in debilitated patients

Interaction: Belladona alkaloids, Procainamide, Quinidine, Amantidine, Antihistaminics, Phenothiazines & TCAs: Efficacy of oxyphenonium bromide potentiated leading to excessive, cholinergic blockade. Other drugs: Absorption of other drugs, given concomitantly, may be delayed.

Servings: Adult: 20 - 40 mg / day in 4 divided doses Children: 2.5 -7-5 mg / day in 1 - 3 times daily.
